    Jean Royère was a French interior designer known for his bright, plush, and playful furniture. Born in Paris, France in 1902 into a wealthy family, he initially worked as a banker before leaving in 1931 to apprentice with Pierre Gouff under whom he learned the meticulous craftsmanship of cabinetmaking.
    Maison Royère has revived the brilliance of Jean Royère, one of the most audacious, free-spirited decorators of the twentieth century. Created from his personal archives, Jean’s most iconic and unusual pieces of furniture are being manufactured with full respect for his heritage.
    In 1931, aged 29, Jean Royère (1902-1981) resigned from a comfortable position in the import-export trade in order to set up business as an interior designer. He learnt his new trade in the cabinetmaking workshops of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine in Paris.
