Akebia quinata is a deciduous woody vine from the Lardizabalaceae family that can grow 40 feet. It is commonly known as Chocolate Vine or Fiveleaf Akebia. Flowering from April to May in it's native lands which are Eastern Asia, China, Japan, and Korea. Mine grew in full shade and thrived. It did take 6 years to bloom but now established it blooms every year. It did not become invasive for me as I gave her 40 feet of fence to live on. Zone 4-8. Germination Mix seeds and soil and moisten the mix slightly in a ziplock bag. Write the name of the seed on the bag. Place in the refrigerator for 30 days. Seed should be sown into well-drained…
