The Powder Blue Blueberry is a variety best suited to areas with long, hot summers and warm winters. These rabbiteye blueberries grow well in warmer zones, from 7 to 9, and they produce big crops of delicious berries. The wild plants have small berries with many seeds, but the Powder Blue Blueberry has large, juicy berries with few seeds. They tell you when they are ripe for picking by developing a dusty white powder over the blue berry. This variety is an early producer, with berries from June to mid-July. Each cluster of berries can have 50 berries in it, so you are assured of a bumper crop. Everyone loves blueberries, fresh, in pancakes or muffins, baked into pies or made into preserves. There is never any waste, since extra berries go straight into the freezer and last for months. - Excellent variety for warmer regions with hot summers - Huge harvest of delicious berries - Tells you they are ready when the white bloom appears - Easily grown if you have acid soil, or in boxes in any garden - Grow them among your shrubs for the beautiful fall colors Grow the Powder Blue Blueberry in acid soil that has a pH below 6.0.
