An intense bloomer for butterfly lovers, Venosa Violacea Clematis is a vining plant that is ideal for trellises or arbors. It can reach the length of 10 feet and is known for its heavy blooming qualities. Venosa Violacea Clematis begins to bloom in midsummer and continuously produces new flowers until late fall. It can be planted around the lamp posts and mail boxes as it gracefully entwines any upright structure with its deep purple and white blooms. The unusual shape and vigorous beauty are showstoppers and has been admired since the 19th century when it was first introduced. This perennial loves the company of climbing roses and attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Venosa Violacea Clematis needs occasional pruning to retain its decorative shape. The foliage is composed of medium green leaves which are often hidden by the abundance of flowers. Venosa Violacea Clematis prefers at least six hours of sun daily, but with proper care, it will grow profusely in partial shade as well. Well drained soil with plenty of nutrients and adequate amounts of water will keep this plant flourishing throughout the season.
