It's made out of specialized foam that's cut into the Geo-Matt mattress topper design, a geometric pattern of more than 800 cubes with an open air channel.This isn't your ordinary hospital bed foam overlay. The Geo-Matt pattern has been clinically tested to show its therapeutic benefits by reducing pull or shear on the skin to prevent and treat pressure ulcers. In addition, the cubes have pressure reducing zones to distribute weight and pressure and will support up to 250 pounds.The Geo-Matt's pattern is cut by a sophisticated computer controlled piece of equipment. It cuts the cubes, including the ring of air channels located along the entire length of the surface. The air channels to pull moisture and heat from the skin which is also critical in effectively preventing pressure ulcers. The overlay is available in standard, double, queen and king size options. The standard size can be purchased with or without a nylon cover or a clear Soft Skin sleeve. The protective cover is fluid resistant with built-in antibacterial agents to make it easy to clean and maintain. The zipper makes it easy to insert the overlay and remove as necessary. A flap covers the zipper offering further protection so that fluids don't penetrate the foam.
