As Ukraine anticipates the arrival of its first F-16s fighter jets as part of the recent foreign aid package passed by the U.S. Congress, Russia's ground forces are grappling with challenges right out of the 18th century — even as the Kremlin makes advances on the battlefield.

Ukraine's president says Russia launched a massive nighttime attack on energy facilities in Ukraine, targeting seven regions with missiles and drones.

Russia also hit the two power plants run by private firm DTEK - one in Ladyzhyn in central Ukraine and another in Burshtyn in the west. DTEK said at the time, without specifying which, that some of its facilities had been destroyed totally and others were running at around 50% capacity.
