Sony just announced an interesting feature coming to the PS5 that should streamline the whole process of wrangling people into a multiplayer game. The new tool will let you invite people into a game even when they aren’t at a console or using the PlayStation app.

On the PS5, that means popping up a QR code from the game lobby that players will need to scan using a smartphone, while the PlayStation App just creates a link users can copy or share through their phone’s share sheet.

Sony has just made it much easier for PS5 players to queue up with each other as the company has brought multiplayer connectivity to smartphones.

Sony ’s about to make it a heck of a lot easier to play PlayStation games with your friends online. At some point “in the coming months” Sony will be launching the option to create a sharable link and send it to friends — letting them jump into a multiplayer session with ease. You don’t even have to be friends on the PlayStation Network either.
