A suspected hit-and-run driver in Long Beach was arrested Sunday after crashing into a teenage boy, who later died of his injuries, according to authorities.

Karen Mativa is accused of striking the teen boy on his scooter and kept driving. Her bail was set at $130,000.

Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a 20-year-old woman dead in Long Beach on Saturday.

A 20-year-old woman was shot and killed Saturday night while walking in a north Long Beach neighborhood, according a preliminary police report. Just after 10 p.m., Long Beach police responded to the area of Paramount Boulevard and 57th Street after hearing reports of gunshots and a suspect fleeing the area, according to a news release.

A woman named Brooklyn Mack was fatally shot in Long Beach; the suspect is at large and detectives are seeking witnesses.
