Continue reading Spirit AeroSystems, which was spun off from Boeing in 2005 and serves as the primary builder of the 737 Max fuselages, faced additional scrutiny after the Federal Aviation Administration imposed quality checks following an incident in January where a door plug on an Alaska Airlines 737 Max 9 blew out.

Family members said that Joshua Dean, who alleged Spirit AeroSystems fired him after he raised concerns about manufacturing flaws on the Boeing 737 Max, died after a brief illness.

While he left Spirit AeroSystems in mid-2022, he was adamant that the Alaska Airlines door plug blowout happened because of quality lapses.
