Mims’ Dad, Prentice Purnell, played defensive tackle for the University of West Georgia, listed at 6-4, 305 pounds. After that, he went on to play seven years of arena football with the Georgia Force, Columbus Destroyers, Alabama Vipers, Cleveland Gladiators and Orlando Predators, finishing his career in 2014.

Mims comes from one of the top college football programs in the country, and he believes that will help him land on his feet in the NFL.
