Toyota Motor Corporation issued a global recall this week for over 211,000 Prius vehicles due to a defect that could cause the rear doors to unexpectedly open while driving. The recall affects both the standard Prius hybrid and the Prius Prime plug-in hybrid models from the 2023 and 2024 model years.

Toyota has announced it will recall around 55,000 2023 and 2024 Prius and Prius Prime vehicles in the U.S. There is a water leakage issue affecting the rear door latches that could cause the doors to come open unexpectedly. Toyota will notify customers in early June but is asking owners to keep the automatic door-locking feature enabled until then.
