The 28-1 chance Elmalka wins the 1,000 Guineas for jockey Silvestre de Sousa who is back in action after a 10-month ban.

De Sousa only returned to action in March after his spell in Hong Kong ended with a 10-month ban for breaching betting rules. But he made the most of his call-up when it was known James Doyle would be riding for his retainers in France.
