Head coach Shaheen Holloway pursued Middleton hard in 2022, shortly after taking the reins in South Orange, but Middleton committed to the Buckeyes that summer. On Wednesday the Pirates closed the loop as the 6-foot-6 freshman announced the Hall as his transfer destination.

Scotty Middleton has known Shaheen Holloway since he played at The Patrick School in Hillside, N.J., and Seton Hall was one of his three finalists before he chose Ohio State in 2022. So when Middleton entered the transfer portal after his freshman season at the Big Ten school, Holloway was the first to come calling.
