CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – The launch of NASA astronauts aboard Boeing’s Starliner has been pushed back yet again. On Friday, the NASA Commercial Crew account tweeted that NASA, Boeing, and ULA are now targeting no earlier than 3:09 p.m. on May 25 for the launch of the agency’s Boeing Crew Flight test mission.

After several delays, NASA has announced a new targeted day for the first crewed Starliner launch. According to NASA Commercial Crew, the new Starliner launch is now targeted for no earlier than May 25 at 3:09 p.m. The crews said they are currently still working on resolving a helium leak.

Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will have to wait for another day to fly to the International Space Station in an orbital capsule that has already faced years of costly technical delays.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Boeing called off its first astronaut launch because of a valve problem on the rocket Monday night. The two NASA test pilots had just strapped into Boeing’s Starliner capsule for a flight to the International Space Station when the countdown was halted, just two hours before the planned liftoff.

Two NASA astronauts waited several extra years for their ride aboard Boeing Starliner, but the wait was not fully unexpected, the former test pilots recently shared with reporters.

The four-day slip allows the launch team to further study a helium leak detected in one of Starliner's thrusters.

Boeing Starliner was supposed to be initially launched on May 7, 2024, but the event was cancelled as the Atlas V rocket carrying the capsule had to be returned to its hangar to replace a pressure valve.
