A 33-year-old has been charged with vehicular homicide for allegedly drag racing with a motorcyclist who crashed and died.

Nicholas Perez was driving a dirt bike on Southwest Ninth Street when he collided into the passenger side of a vehicle on May 3, police said.

It was Des Moines' fourth traffic-related death this year, and the third involving a motorcycle. Des Moines police have arrested a 33-year-old man for an early April crash that led to a motorcyclist's death.
