Shilese Jones, an all-around medalist at last two world championships, will miss nationals with a shoulder injury and petition to the Olympic trials.

Shilese Jones has pulled out of the U.S. gymnastics championships because of a shoulder injury. Jones says she plans to petition USA Gymnastics for a spot at the Olympic Trials in Minneapolis at the end of June.

Jones is one of a handful of gymnasts in contention for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team competing in Paris this summer. Two weeks ago, at the Core Hydration Classic, Jones solidified herself as Team USA's strongest asset behind Simone Biles, finishing second in the all-around competition and winning the uneven bars.
