KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan have thrashed Scotland in their second warm-up match ahead of T20 World Cup by 55 runs at the Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad. Afghan skipper Rashid Khan won the toss and decided to bat first. All-rounder Gulbadin Naib hit half century to help Afghanistan set a178 runs target for the opposition.

Scotland lose to Afghanistan by 55 runs in the final warm-up game before they begin their T20 World Cup campaign against England on 4 June.

A bit of resistance from Matt Watt delayed the inevitable as Mujeeb and Karim Janat picked two, while Naveen, Rashid Khan, Azmatullah Omarzai and Nangeyalia Kharote bagged a wicket apiece.

Dasun Shanaka produced a solid all-round performance, which included bowling figures of 4 for 23, as former champions Sri Lanka overcame some jittery moments to down Ireland by 41 runs in their T20 World Cup warm-up game in Lauderhill (USA) on Friday.

Afghanistan come into the fixture after their first warm-up clash being called off due to rain after 20 overs at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. However, their bowlers had a decent outing bowling their full quota of 20 overs with just Azmatullah Omarzai and Naveen-ul-Haq among the wickets.
