The northern lights could once again grace the skies over parts of the United States. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), those in the northern U.S. may have a chance to witness the aurora borealis on Wednesday night,

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that clear skies permitting, the phenomenon might be visible across parts of the northern U.S. on Wednesday night, including in Washington, Idaho, Montana, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Maine. Increased solar activity can also interfere with radio transmissions on Earth.

Though it’s hard to estimate where the Northern Lights will show up, they may be the most visible Friday night in Canada and Alaska, according to NOAA (see image below). However, continental U.S. states within the aurora’s view line include Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.
